Astrology for the Week of April 9, 2012

The theme for this week is laughter. One of the things that I wished I had done more in my life was to find something to make me laugh when I was in the middle of a traumatic event. The event happened no matter what I did to advert its course or to change it to what I wanted it to be. It occurred anyway; being unhappy and stressful only affected me. So if you are in the middle of a horrific event, stop punishing yourself and smile anyway. Do it just because.

There actually is a practical reason to smile and laugh. Decades of research at Harvard and other academic institutions shows that happiness is the precursor to success and abundance. Most of us have it backwards. We work hard to be successful to get to that place where we will be happy. It does not work that way. That is a lie passed down from generation to generation to keep you stuck. Give yourself permission to laugh and be happy this week. It opens the door for wonderful things to happen. You will be glad that you did it when you are on the other side of the stressful events in your life.

Monday, April 9, Venus is sextile Uranus. This would be the perfect day to implement happiness in your life. Venus is love and money and Uranus is big change. Now another lie that I want to talk about is the saying, “Money doesn’t bring you happiness.” It is only true if you have lots of money and are unhappy. Research about poor immigrants in the last century showed that once people were about survival mode and had some money to spend, their depression left. So, for those of you that are struggling financially, laugh and be happy. That vibe will bring abundance in.

Tuesday, April 10, Pluto goes retrograde until September 18. Although Pluto was demoted from being a planet, its influence is strong as ever. The structure of Pluto is similar to Kali, the goddess of life, death, and rebirth. Pluto represents the old aspects of your life that have passed away that will be replaced by new ones that can finally manifest in reality. Pluto brings radical transformation, so think of this retrograde transit as a spotlight on the areas of your life that you thought you had changed, but did not. Look back at the last seven months beginning September 2011 and see what has changed and what did not. In some ways, our world has gotten scarier with the current Supreme Court rulings. They represent the beliefs in us that other people have power over our world. We need to change this belief in us in order to change the outside world. This is what Pluto retrograde represents – the removal of the beliefs that take our power away.

Thursday, April 12, Venus is square Chiron. Old wounds come to the surface. Release them and let them go. The Ho’oponopono (Hawaiian Huna) mantra for clearing is, “I love you. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” Use this when releasing beliefs, people, etc. Say it over and over when something from the past comes into your face.

Friday, April 13 is powerful time for the Goddess and Mars goes direct. Yeah. Now, don’t just jump into the cold water as the best time to implement something new is on the New Moon on the 21st. Take the time to plan what you want to do. Let things incubate for a while.

Sunday, April 15, we will experience an opposition between the Sun and Saturn. The sun is your personality/ego and Saturn represents duty and responsibility. Opposition always represents balance, so take time today to see if your responsibilities are taking over your life or if they are in balance.

The card that I pulled for today is Louise Hay’s healing card. It is perfect for Sunday, April 15.

“It is not fun being a victim. I refuse to be helpless anymore. I claim my own power. I am not responsible for other people. We are all under the law of our own consciousness.”
