Astrology for the Week of January 23, 2012

The theme for this week is patience. We are in the middle of a huge transformational process and we need to be able to just chill when life throws us a curve ball. Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we are on the right path but there still are a few obstacles to overcome before reaching the Emerald City.

We will experience a New Moon in Aquarius at 11:29pm PST on Sunday, January 23, 2012. This Full Moon will be exceptionally powerful because it is also be conjunct the Sun in Aquarius. The Sun represents the Ego and the Self and the Moon represents the Unconscious and Emotions. This aspect blends the two and makes them work together. The power of this aspect is new beginnings, paradigm shifts, innovation, social consciousness, humanitarianism, originality, and revolution. This energy asks, "what are we going to do to make this world better?” Remember that the world is a reflection of us. Therefore, what are we going to change within to make this world better? As we shift, the world shifts.

Therefore, in order to do this, we need to ask the questions:
What do you wish to bring into Manifestation on this New Moon?
What do you intend to do to make it real?
What gifts or opportunities are already here to help make this happen?
The answers to these questions need to be explored in the energy of the New Moon.

Besides the Moon and the Sun being in Aquarius, the other energy that is happening is that the Sun and Moon are square Part of Fortune, which is conjunct the Ascendant, square Jupiter in Taurus, and square Saturn in Libra. This means in order to be self-actualized and enlightened, you must embrace your destiny, speak your truth and walk your talk. Opportunity will be there to support you in doing so or will create obstacles and issues to make you give up the façade. You can appear to be together and do the right things but unless you totally embrace the energy and allow the transformation (think of the caterpillar becoming the cocoon), you find yourself in circumstances that force you to change. So, what does this mean? If you are not beginning to experience a glimmer of the life that you want to experience, then you need to discover why the obstacles are there. Is it resistance from wanting it too much (too much desire is not a good thing), believe that it is impossible even though you really want it to happen? Or are you unconsciously living out beliefs from past lives or your current ancestors? The last one is a big issue that is coming up all the time. You may not believe that only the rich get richer but if your parents or grandparents did, then it is in your DNA. Release, release, release. Another trap that can be fallen into is being righteous. You may not physically harm or kill someone but if you hate war, then you are holding the energy in place. Non-judgmental acceptance of all things is necessary. Now, this does not mean that you approve of it or like it, it simply means that you acknowledge that it is a part of the spectrum of life because of previous societal beliefs. When you do that, it allows the negativity to change into something positive. This energy of the Full Moon allows this belief to change. As we change, so does everything else. How wonderful! We are in the Age of Aquarius and this New Moon gives us the energy to make that happen and be integrated in our lives.

Tuesday, January 24, the first of the curveballs are thrown at you. Mercury is conjunct the Sun and both are square Jupiter and Saturn. This energy will be felt until January 31. What this means is that you are ready to speak your truth and become fully integrated in your destiny. You are at the Emerald City and are ready to be shown the way home. However, the Universe has different plans and sends you (Dorothy) back to get the shoes of the Wicked Witch of the West. In reality, it is not a setback but another adventure for you to practice walking your talk. Just remember that every obstacle is an opportunity in disguise.

Friday, January 27, the peak of the T-square happens today with the emphasis of Mercury. You may question yourself. You may think that what you want to be is impossible. This is only to ferret out beliefs from the ancestors that are still running in the background.

Saturday, January 28, Mercury is sextile to Uranus, which is good news as this will allow change to happen in the area of old stuck beliefs. Releasing will be easy today. In addition, you will get a sense of “I am finally done with this.”

The card that I pulled for this week is the Seeker of Sword in the Inner Child Deck. I find it amusing that I was inspired to write about the Wizard of Oz and this card depicts a scarecrow in a cornfield. The scarecrow that has its hands pointing in a opposite directions, which illustrates the message in this card. It is - that you are at a crossroads and must pick one road to go if you want to continue moving forward in your journey. The right road is the one your heart says to take.
