How to Meditate

Many people think that meditation is sitting quietly without any thoughts at all. And they become frustrated because they cannot turn their mind off. The truth is that that kind of meditation is ego driven meditation. The ego is deciding what is right and what is wrong. The ego is only concerned with perfecting a technique.

True meditation is being present in the moment without judgment. It is observing the monkey mind. It is observing the leg that is cramping. It is observing the sounds in the air. It is seeing and sensing everything as if it were the first time you experienced it. Our mind filters out so much information. It needs to do this otherwise we would be on overload all of the time. But the problem with filtering is that we forget to notice. We assume. Meditating by observing without judgment makes us remember what we are not noticing. It makes us really look at things to see how they really are, not how we think they are.

The natural progression of true meditation is meditation as a way of life. Every moment is a new moment to experience and treasure. There is power being in the moment. This is where we create.
